Bernard Lim is a Principal of AD+RG Architecture Design and Research Group Limited, a former Honorary Adjunct Professor of the School of Architecture of The Chinese University of Hong Kong from 1998 to 2019, and the Founding President of the Hong Kong Institute of Urban Design (HKIUD). He was Past President of the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA) from 2005 to 2006.

Among his public and social services, he has been appointed as Member of the Hong Kong Housing Society; Chairman of Steering Committee of Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi- City Biennale of Urbanism and Architecture and Member of Advisory Committee on Education Development Fund. And he was appointed as Chairman of the Building Committee and Strategic Planning Committee Member of the Hong Kong Housing Authority; Member of Sustainable Development Council; 12th National Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference of PRC.

He has established professional specialization/research in the areas of heritage conservation, MiC design and application, Institutional, Educational, Healthcare and Elderly Buildings, Sustainable designs, Community Participatory Planning and Workshops. He has received various awards including DFA Design for Asia Awards 2015, UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation 2015, HKIA Annual Awards for Excellence in Architectural Designs, BCI Asia Focus China Awards 2013, The 5th Architecture Creation Award 2013, BCI Asia Top 10 Architects Awards, World Architecture News Award, World Architecture Festival at Barcelona for Finest Buildings from around the Globe, the Green Building Award of Hong Kong for Sustainable Green Building Designs, and the Energy Efficient Building Award of the Hong Kong Government for Energy Efficiency designs, etc.
